Why did Eureka choose HERO Business Centre?
For several years, Eureka has been looking for expansion opportunities in the Šnipiškės district. However, it is not easy to find premises for the education of young children, as the organisation of activities requires an enclosed and child-friendly courtyard.
“It is difficult to find buildings in Vilnius that can offer an enclosed outdoor courtyard next to the premises. Hero, meanwhile, has given us a spacious terrace with direct access from the school premises. A big advantage is that this outdoor space is away from the hustle and bustle of the streets and is oriented towards the municipality’s play area, the Dragon’s Meadow, where Eureka’s children will also spend part of the day”, – says dr. Povilas Mačiulis, Head of Eureka School.
Eureka has already tested the integration of a early education school in a large business centre in the Žvėrynas branch (Business Centre CORE, Ukmergės str. 126, Vilnius), and the model has been successful.
“The business centre is suitable for us because of its convenience and other added values for our clients. Hero is within easy reach of those who live and work nearby. In addition, the business centre has given Eureka’s clients access to underground parking, which makes it convenient to bring the children in any weather and at any time of year. Another major advantage for the school is the indoor and outdoor spaces in the Hero building, which are focused on health promotion. It is hard to believe that this building will have a 300 metre running track. This is a big advantage for the school”, – says P. Mačiulis.
WHAT MAKES EUREKA EDUCATION EXCEPTIONAL?
Full day school
In Eureka, classes start at 9:00 AM (children are welcome at school from 7:30 AM), and after-school activities continue until 6:00 PM. Extracurricular activities are included in the price of education, so parents do not need to pay extra.
Bilingual environment
Children in Eureka learn a second language every day in the same way as they learned their mother tongue – that is, by naturally, unconsciously adopting it from the linguistic environment and communicative situations. Teachers present at least 20% of the content in English every day. Preschoolers also have four English blocks (1.5 hours each) each week where they study using Cambridge textbooks.
Discovery Based Education
Discovery Based Education is unique because it systematically provides the conditions for a child to get to know something new at school every day: to discover an object, a phenomenon, a natural object, an emotion, a country, etc. This structures a constant and intriguing process of the world exploration that evokes a minor’s curiosity, a desire to learn and to know.
Sustainable Thinking Education
Eureka children know why sustainability is important and how every person on the planet can contribute to it. The integrated educational content of the school is based on the 17 sustainability goals set by the United Nations. And we also learn the basics of sustainability through the connection with nature and vegetation, environmental project activities and the use of secondary raw materials.
We get wisdom from books
At Eureka, we aim to create a cozy book environment by including reading in a playful educational activity, and by applying a reading strategy, we aim to form the natural motivation to read. It is important for us that the child not only learns to read texts correctly, but does so consciously. Therefore, during the evening library, we read texts together, during the weekly contextual topics we analyze books and fairy-tale characters, retell the stories we have heard, create our own characters, and organize events to get to know children’s books.
School without borders
At Eureka, we educate children not only in the school’s environment, but also through active travelling. We organise trips and excursions during which children can get to know, observe and explore the environment. We also visit natural and cultural objects, museums, exhibitions, parks, cooperate with other organisations. Children listen to stories about cultural objects, photograph, film, draw and model them, create inscenisations, share their impressions and thoughts, express their assessments.
Thinking development
We encourage children of the Eureka preschool class to think critically, unusually, not to be afraid to take risks, to learn to ask effective questions that encourage students to engage in more creative and thought-stimulating processes. Various instruments are used for the development of thinking: creating thinking maps, raising reflective questions, analyzing thinking habits.
The concept of harmonious education
It is a holistic system of developing the Personality of a modern child, which is implemented by combining four educational dimensions: intelligence, social awareness, communication and physical development.
