Eureka has received the European Solidarity Corps Quality Label, opening the door to new opportunities for welcoming international volunteers into our community. This recognition allows us to host young people from across World who are eager to contribute to meaningful projects—and we are already seeing the benefits.
Currently, we are hosting our first volunteers from Spain and Azerbaijan, whose activities focus on promoting sustainable thinking, environmental protection, and climate awareness. Each week, they work with students on hands-on sustainability projects designed to encourage environmental consciousness and personal responsibility.
Today, we are delighted to introduce our two volunteers.
Elmira’s journey began in the heart of the Caucasus Mountains and brought her to a small Lithuanian classroom—a story filled with learning, sharing, and discovering joy in life’s simple moments. She is currently volunteering at the New Town branch.
Her motivation to volunteer was simple: she wanted to do something meaningful. When choosing a country, she felt immediately drawn to Lithuania.
“The country has a calm, peaceful atmosphere,” she says. “But what inspired me the most was Eureka School—its discovery-based approach to learning is unique. Here, children learn through curiosity, not memorization, and that is very close to my heart.”
Edith comes from Valencia, a sunny coastal city in eastern Spain known for its beautiful Mediterranean beaches and world-famous paella. She is volunteering at the Žvėrynas branch.
Her biggest wish is for the children to become more aware of the importance of protecting the environment and to feel more connected to nature. She also hopes to share Spanish culture and help children feel confident practicing their English.
Although she has been here for only a couple of weeks, Edith has already learned basic Lithuanian words and numbers, new classroom-management tools, and plenty of creative ideas to use with the kids. Her volunteering journey is just beginning, but it is already enriching her life in many meaningful ways.
